Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of InsightVest. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use InsightVest.

1. The service

InsightVest lets you bring your holdings together in one place and provides analysis, briefings, and a decision journal to help you understand your own portfolio. It also includes Paper Investing, a free practice mode where you trade with virtual money on live market prices and can compete with friends. Features may change over time.

2. Eligibility and access

You must be at least 16 years old to use InsightVest. If you are 16 or 17, you should use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Anyone who signs up can use the free Paper Investing practice mode; the full portfolio-intelligence app ("Plus") is a paid subscription that you can start at any time after signing up. You agree that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your PIN and account secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at insightsvest@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Not financial advice

InsightVest provides general, informational analysis based on data you provide and public information. It does not take into account your full financial situation and is not personalized investment advice. InsightVest is not registered or licensed as an adviser, dealer, investment fund manager, or financial firm with any securities regulator, including the Ontario Securities Commission or any other member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, and does not provide any regulated financial service or financial product. Market data may be delayed or inaccurate. AI-generated content can be wrong or incomplete. Before making any financial decision, do your own research and consider consulting a licensed professional in your jurisdiction. Past performance does not guarantee future results, and all investing involves risk of loss.

5. Paper investing (practice)

Paper Investing is a free, simulated practice mode. It is offered at no charge, and we do not currently intend to charge for it.

• All balances, trades, and profits or losses are virtual. You are never buying, selling, or holding any real security, and no real money is ever involved, deposited, withdrawn, or at stake.
• Each account starts with a fixed amount of virtual currency. We may reset, adjust, or limit virtual balances, and change or discontinue the feature, at any time.
• Prices shown are drawn from live market data that may be delayed or inaccurate, and a real order would not necessarily fill at the same price. Simulated results are not indicative of real trading outcomes and ignore real-world factors such as fees, taxes, slippage, and liquidity.
• Leagues and lobbies are for practice and friendly competition only. They are not gambling, involve no entry fee, stake, or wager, and award no cash or prize of monetary value.
• Paper Investing is educational and informational only. Like the rest of the service, it is not financial advice and not a recommendation to make any real trade (see section 4).

6. Acceptable use

• Do not use InsightVest for any unlawful purpose or to violate anyone's rights.
• Do not attempt to breach security, access other users' data, scrape, or overload the service.
• Do not upload content you do not have the right to provide.
• Do not attempt to manipulate Paper Investing balances, leagues, or leaderboards, or exploit the practice environment in bad faith.

7. Third-party services and data

InsightVest relies on third parties for AI, market prices, email, hosting, and backups (see our Privacy Policy). We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or actions of those services.

8. Subscriptions and payments

Paper Investing is free. Plus is a paid subscription. The current price and billing cycle are shown at checkout and become part of these Terms.

• Billing and auto-renewal. Plus is billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly unless stated otherwise at checkout) and renews automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. Applicable taxes may be added.
• Payment processor. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. Your payment is subject to Stripe's terms in addition to ours.
• Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account (Profile → Manage membership). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; your Plus access continues until then, after which the account returns to the free Paper Investing tier.
• Refunds. Except where a refund is required by applicable law (including Ontario and Canadian consumer-protection law), fees already charged for a billing period that has started are non-refundable, and we do not provide partial refunds for the unused part of a period.
• Price changes. We may change the price of Plus. Any change applies from your next renewal, and we will give you reasonable notice beforehand so you can cancel if you do not agree.
• Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend or downgrade Plus access until payment succeeds.

9. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of data or analysis.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, InsightVest and its operators will not be liable for any investment losses or for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or, if you paid nothing, to a nominal amount.

11. Termination

You may stop using InsightVest at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or to protect the service and its users.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada for any dispute arising from these Terms or the service. Nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your own province or country.
